the bundled up thoughts of a human being

I couldn’t think of a better title for this article since I didn’t want to break up each and every individual ponder into a blog post which will be as time consuming as pulling an airbus with my teeth across the 130 mile span island I live on.

First off look at this new theme. Away with the cool super mario theme and in with the simplistic , non-artistic theme that I picked up from the theme viewer site on wordpress.com . There is a deeper meaning to it. If it is simple as it is I won’t expect anything from it. No facebook/twitter/picassa/flickr integration , no advanced stuff , just a silly blog with the ideas of one of the many billions that we are on Earth.

Next lets take “online presence”. You have at least a facebook account , maybe a myspace account , online messengers , you surely have a super cool gmail/hotmail account and all the rest. People using wordpress to blog have this urge to merge. Leave them all alone. Personally I canceled everything. I don’t want IM (I have gtalk for that) , I don’t want an email client (I have gmail for that) , I don’t want to subscribe to an rss notifier (I have Google reader for that) , I don’t want to do much of anything because my Google account takes care of most things for me. To be honest I should chuck this blog in the bin and use my Google account to sign up for blogger (and I have) but I am waiting for blogger to mature a bit more till I get it going over there.

Lately I have taken interest in medical science. This is after I studied quite a bit regarding 23andme , a company founded by Google co-founder Sergey Brin’s wife and it is by fact a Google invested company. They deal mostly with genetic research offering a really innovative and cool approach to profiling your DNA and educating you about yourself.

The thoughts on 23andme gave me reason to believe that medical science is being slacky. We still use primitive methods to perform surgery which can only remind you of a butcher or a cannibal , doctors are as careless as ever leaving surgical objects inside patient’s bodies (and get away with it - at least in Cyprus they do). We are all so savage with medical science. This pushed me further to my prolonged interest in nanorobotic practices for medical science. Imagine the precision , painless effort and lack of possible human error that nanorobotics introduce to medical science. Generally speaking everything is just moving so slow lately. I might be wrong of course but there hasn’t been any mind blowing innovations or breakthroughs lately. Good people still die , bad people still murder you , cancer strikes the loved ones and once in a blue moon something cool happens like “a new breakthrough in cancer research” . So far it only feels like its all in a stash of theories next to the document referring to light travel or time travel.

Ive taken a recent interest in insects. People that know my up close know that the most disgusting insect I have ever seen is a roach or AKA cockroach. I think they are the most repulsive creature on this planet even more than politicians. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t find them intimidating. Ive been through a lot worse than coming into contact with roachesĀ  , Ive come into contact with the worst species ever - human beings , but I still find roaches to be more disgusting than ever. Moving their little antennas left and right faster than they can actually render their body into motion , walking out of sewage , carrying all that bacteria. Sick!

So I thought maybe we should kill them all or send them to Mars or something. Maybe they will find a better life there! Since we might send them all , we should also consider rabbits and centipedes , they are equally disgusting to roaches.

I am spending a lot of time studying for my CCNP. I’m currently on the review questions of the BCMSN but to be honest I’m losing a little bit of faith in the whole Cisco certification thing. I don’t mind going for my CCIE one fine day soon and failing it 5-6 times before I pass but honestly , I’d rather go to university to prove myself in the field of networking.

I also had a look at the late Dr. Randy Pausch’s last lecture video which gave me some food for my thoughts. It seems as though knowing you are going to die always changes your perception. From a recent book that I am reading , I quote Daniel Gilbert from Harvard with his question “What would you do right now if you learned that you were going to die in ten minutes?” People sometimes tell you to “live your life , every moment , as if it where your last”. Dr. Gilbert’s response to this was “It only goes to show that some people would spend their last ten minutes giving dumb advice.” How true he really is , thought people with a terminal disease do indeed have altered perceptions regarding many issues. I would like to thank Dr. Pausch wherever he may be with his kind words in an attempt to better the life of others and to empower people to chase for their dreams. He is a true exception to every man that would give that dumb advice. His words subtle and so clarifying have given me more to do and think.

One last thing regarding blogging. I am going to avoid the tech blog posts as much as I can. It is a time in my life where I have never felt more human than ever. It isn’t like I stay away from my computer or something , the fact simply remains that I live in a sunny island right now and I can assure all the people reading this and stuck in snow or a thunderstorm that I have more swimming to do.

Another word of advice to tourists visiting Cyprus , stay away from the locals , all of them , they are bad news , a menace , extremely dangerous drivers and manners have gone AWAL as of the beginning of time. I’m sure the hotel room confinement will do just fine :)
As a last thought of humorous imagination: If I ever went to Disney land , I would like to know if Mickey Mouse can defend himself if I try to steal Mini away! :)
Enjoy the rest of the hot summer.
